Our home plumbing is something we rely on every day, so it is important that it is serviced by a skilled and reliable plumber.  But finding a reliable local plumber can be difficult, there are lots of plumbers who fail to meet the standards most homeowners would expect.

So what can you do to find a reliable plumber you can trust?

Steps to Finding A Reputable Plumber in Boston

  1. Ask if they have a license – First and foremost, you want a licensed contractor that insures his business. – Most reputable plumbers will be licensed, this is a sign that they know what they’re doing and have the required skills for most household plumbing issues.   Always ask if a local plumber is licensed, a reliable plumber will be happy to show their license to you.
  2. Ask friends & family – One of the best things you can do when hiring a local plumber is to ask other people about their experience.  Ask friends and family if they have used the plumber before. If no one has heard of the plumber then it’s much harder to determine their skill and trustworthiness. Don’t be afraid to stick to well known plumbers with an established reputation.
  3. Check online reviews – Does the plumber have any positive reviews?  What is the general opinion from other customers? Don’t simply rely on their company website, check reviews on trusted sites such as Facebook, Google & Yelp.
  4. Ask about their fees – A reputable plumber will be more than happy to discuss their fees before any work is completed.  If a plumber is cheap, there’s probably a reason for it.  When it comes to plumbing, quality is far more important if you want the problem fixed first time around.

Don’t settle for the first plumber you come across, do the research and find a plumber you know you can trust!

I have always tried to ask my friends and family before I hire anyone to do service on my house. I agree completely that you should ask about their fees before hiring them. My brother has over spent on plumbing a few times and he was always mad about it. Great article.
